Background

Cecilia, The Poisoned Wine Case is the third film in a trilogy by Mateo Gutiérrez dealing with the Uruguayan dictatorship and major political events of that era. Following D.F. (Final Destination) (2008), which explored the assassination of Héctor Gutiérrez Ruiz in Buenos Aires, and Wilson (2017), which delved into the exile of Wilson Ferreira Aldunate, this new film examines the attack on three high-ranking political leaders and their families, culminating in the tragic death of Cecilia Fontana de Heber. This is a story of intrigue and long-buried secrets, aiming to shed light on the events surrounding Cecilia Fontana’s murder in the name of a healthier reconstruction of the country’s recent history.
